The Yanks are giving too much honor to a President who pardoned Nixon and was not even elected to office as President. Thus, many are treating the honoring act as worship.

No, I can think of bigger. It's about the same as you guys worshipping a live monarch that has no control over you anymore, whose parents put HER in power. We elected George W the 2nd time, so if you wanna learn your American history a little more, then you'll find out that Gerald Ford was thrust into that situation, I'm pretty sure that he didn't wanna be there, but he knew that he had to be, so he tried to make the best of it. Why don't you Brits find something better to do than to look your tea swiggin, bad teeth sportin, Austin Powers-look alike, nose at every fricken country in the world and see that the only thing keeping us from blowing your pathetic country up, is that your prime minister has his nose stuck so far up OUR president's rear end, that he can smell what he had for breakfast before he digest it. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND RIP GERALD FORD!!!

I'm glad you are from the UK and I sincerely hope you stay there. As others have already stated, you make comments like this, when you "worship" some old lady who does nothing but look down her nose at you? Ford is being honored for his service to our country. Although people disagreed with his pardoning of Nixon I believe that history is now showing that he did the right thing.
Regarding Bush, he won....twice. That is our democratic system. Why you bloody English even care is beyond me. Why don't you go back to your tea and scones and read ANOTHER article about that horse face Camilla. Remember her? She's the one your adorable (cough-cough) prince cheated with and finally married (after she divorced her husband of course).

1. We don't "worship" an ex president..we HONOR him.
2. Bush WAS elected. The supreme court only put a stop to the never ending one sided recounts. ( The democrats only wanted to recount votes from certain areas, and DID NOT want to recount votes from other areas) PLUS Florida newspapers, months afterward agreed that Bush won.

Prince Charles could be your King in the not too distant future. Tony Blair is an American lapdog. Prince Phillip's bachelor party has been going on in Buckinham Palace's basement for over 50 years. Edward only married so people wouldn't keep on accusing him of being a c***sucker. Princess Anne could take first prize at the Westminster Kennel Club. Need I go on? Please crawl back into whatever cave you came from.

I find it more ironic that English is your mother tongue.
And now for something completely different! Facts:
1] ...the yanks... implies all 'yanks' False.
2] ...worshiping... False.
3]...living unelected... Debatable/True.
4]....biggest example of irony.. False.

why do the brits worship and spend butt-loads of money on a figure head monarchy? you pay so they can globe trot and own lavish castles and grounds and mansions and yachts. surely, you spend more on them than you get from tourism they bring for there are many other reasons to visit england. there, that is what i find ironic and frankly, stupid.
and not only that, your country shows ignorance in banning the advertising of cheese and saying it has little nutritional value and saying that sweet treats and cheese are for the most part, equal.

No. What's more ironic is the people in the UK worshipping a monarch with no power whatsoever, and are fascinated with every aspect of her meaningless life, asking questions about other people's countries in a condescending and unintentionally ironic fashion.
I think someone just got served.

what people who see news from America should understand, is that what American media presents as truth, is usualy not what most Americans feel, or do. This, unfortunatlely is a negative aspect of freedom of speech. The media pretty much has gone from reporting actual facts, to reporting opinion., or whatever sells. I think this is true in most countries, however.

First part: you're wrong.
Second part: you're right.
We aren't worshipping a dead unelected President (Ford is who, i assume, you're taliking about), we are simply paying respects for his service to our nation. And, he wasn't elected, but he was given office democratically (Would we have wanted Nixon to stay in?!) As for Bush, yes, he lost the election in 2000, as more people voted for Gore. That's fact.
