okay, so my biology teacher gave us this sheet and it explains the DNA replication. it says..
3' 5'
CGCTACTCTACGGCACCCAATATTACGTAGTCCTTGGGGGTTTAACGGTACCCAGTATCCGGCCT
GCGATGAGATGCCGTGGGTTATAATGCATCAGGAACCCCCAAATTGCCATGGGTCATAGGCCGGA
5' 3'

and the assignment is to create a DNA replication study sheet using this sequence.
and i am confused.
please help!!! i will be greatly obliged.
thanks.

When double-stranded DNA (such as you have) replicates, it divides into 2 separate strands. Each strand is then used as a template to be copied, resulting in a new strand which looks exactly like the strand that separated away. Try drawing the sequences with different colors.

3'5'
CGCTAC...
GCGATG...
5'3'

will become:

3'5'
CGCTAC...
GCGATG...
5'3'

PLUS

3'5'
CGCTAC...
GCGATG...
5'3'

IN DNA replication, C always pairs with G and T always pairs with A. 3'5' and 5'3' are the two parts the the origional code. Since DNA is a double helix, both will replicate and, in the end, you will have two identical strands of DNA.
You wouldn't happen to know what your teacher wants you to include on the study sheet, would you? It would help.
