For most women, continuing to breastfeed during pregnancy is perfectly fine. If you are having a normal, healthy pregnancy it should be no problem. A good basic rule is that if your doc says you're OK to have sex, then you should also be OK to nurse. (Orgasm can cause contractions that are similar to the ones that may be experienced while nursing.)

I have nursed through pregnancy twice. Both times I had normal, healthy pregnancies and normal sized healthy babies.

Pregnancy can damage your supply due to the hormones that maintain the pregnancy. There isn't a lot that you can do to counter that. Just take really good care of yourself.....eat well and drink plenty of fluids. Rest when you can and keep nursing.

Good for you for nursing your child this long! What a wonderful start you've given your older child!

Nope. Our bodies have done this for thousands of years. Just take vitamins & up your calorie consumption another 300 calories per day or so. Talk to your doctor about what you can do to keep healthy. You are supporting 3 lives now. Yours, the 1 1/2 year olds, and the unborn childs.

I wouldn't think it would cause you any problem. IF you are pregnant and nursing a baby, your body would be carrying one heck of a load. Your body would have to to use a lot of nutrients to make enough milk for a 1 1/2 year old baby AND develop another baby. I think a doctor's CLOSE observation would be necessary.

I was under the impression that a woman wasn't likely to get pregnant while breast feeding. Could I be wrong?
Good luck. Pops

I personally don't think so, you may need extra calories in your diet to keep both children going and to keep you from being vitamin defecient. You really need to go to DR.to get a check up and know for sure. You need your pre-natal vitamins and rest, and a good diet)The unborn baby will get what it needs from you, your other child I hope is eating and not just nursing, he/she may not be getting all the vitamins a growing child needs.Last but not least, you have to put back into your body what the children take out, or else you may get anemic, calcium deficient and just plain out tired...Good Luck Chic!!

I would think that it could be very demanding of your body. Not only is your body trying to norish you, but it is also takes from your norishment to give to your breastmilk and to your unborn child. I would talk to your doctor... I am not trying to be mean or nosey, but why would you still breastfeed a child at a year and a half? I have seen a couple of people do this and I am baffled why? I love my four children, but when they got their teeth I was done... it was two painful ( literally I thought I was going to loose my nipple to the last one I couldn't get him unlatched) because they didn't want to stop biteing and the yelling to shock them to stop didn't work and to me seemed a bit odd. I have always heard from doctors and it seems tradition in my family to breastfeed for a year, but more than what is suggested... i am just curious as to why or how you get past the biteing phase?

No, I breastfeed my daughter right up until she was 22 months and I was 7 months pregnant. I never had any problems. Just make sure your eating healthy and enough to support all of you. Also drink lots of milk, cause both babies will be sucking a lot of calcium out of you.

Not at all. It may cause you to dry up. From what I have read.
But talk to your dr. do your best to keep breastfeeding if that is right for you and your child

no-it wont harm you or baby--but you do need to get extra supplemental vitamins-(besides the 'regular' prenatals)-so be sure to talk to your doctor about that.
