Yes or no!

"If the Congress chooses to pass bills that are simply political statements, they will have chosen stalemate," Bush wrote. "If a different approach is taken, the next two years can be fruitful ones for our nation. We can show the American people that Republicans and Democrats can come together to find ways to help make America a more secure, prosperous and hopeful society."

To the extent that Bush and the dems agree, like on the issue of immigration, but in just about everything else, they won't. Democrats campaigned on being; NOT like Bush. Now we get to see what they ARE, and many people will soon be thinking twice about what they have unleashed...

"If the Congress chooses to pass bills that are simply political statements..." How broad is this? After six years of Bush's catch phrases - cut and run, War on Terror, stay the course, I'm the Decider - many of us have learned he isn't so dumb about one thing, and that is playing the word game to his advantage. He's reached new heights with this one though. Virtually anything Congress tries to do that opposes his agenda can be labeled a "political statement" meant only to hamper his job as President. Who can't see this one coming a mile off? I don't have much hope of Congress and the President working well together. He's too arrogant and they're too damn mad. I think it's as simple as that. Who to blame? They'll be lots of people to blame in the next two years, because it's becoming obvious it isn't going to be pleasant.

EDIT: Hopeful? Two-thirds majority in Congress can override a Presidential veto. With a great deal of his party distancing themselves from this President's agenda, two-thirds majority may not be so hard to reach.

I certainly hope not!

What I want to see is the Demos pass a bill a day to improve life in America, then send it to Bush with a note "Sign or Veto." Do this every single day. "Sign or Veto."

Then when 2008 comes around all Demos have to do is H\hold up the bill with "Veto" on it and say "We tried to do this, but the Repubs wouldnt do it. We tried to do that, but the Repubs wouldn't do it."

We might not see Repubs for a long time.

I doubt seriously if they're going to vote to allow another 23,000 troops to be sent to Iraq to get shot at and killed. That will put an end to "working together" as far as President Chimp is concerned. The Dems will probably be more than happy to work together on a lot of things, but if he's stubborn and obstinate about sending more troops over, there won't be any working together. My God, this guy is such a fool and idiot!!!

Why is it that all of a sudden the partisanship must stop? It was perfectly fine when the Republicans were in control. He speaks of the "partisan climate" in D.C. like he isn't the one who created it! I only hope the Dems can stop the madman from killing more of our soldiers and totally destroying this Country before his term is up. I do not want them supporting any of Bush's disastrous policy's. I pray for partisanship.

I think that the better question is will he work with them. They have 5 or 6 things they want to get out of the gates in the first week and if vetoes like a crybaby he is only going to make it hard on himself.

Will the evil and corrupt president work with the democratic congress? He dictated to the Republican congress, do you think that will work with democrats? One thing is for sure, it has got to be better then the Republican congress was, no way could it be worse.

If they wish to be re-elected in 2008 they'd better not. It will weaken them as a whole.
