honest deceit is when you inform that you are going to deceive such as playing poker the assumption is that you may bluff or deceive

deceit cannot be honest ....
the act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; cheating: Once she exposed their deceit, no one ever trusted them again.

3. the quality of being deceitful; duplicity; falseness: a man full of deceit.

It's when you are deceitful without knowing or having the intention to be. When you intentionally deceit someone, that's when it is wrong.

Telling your lovely wife that her bum doesn't look at all fat in her favourite jeans would be one example i can think of....

A deceit for honourable reasons would be my definition.

I guess it is like when you are doing your taxes and claim something as a deduction when actually it isn't and get away with it.
