You die if you get sucked up. But it is usally like a vacuum type action but only with movement, so you cant move very much. Best is very slowly and grab something or someone. It takes awhile to sink completely into the earth like at the bottom of a sandy well.

Normally you don't get sucked completely in. I've been sucked very quickly down to my armpits before. You have to lay as flat on the surface as possible and slowly wriggle one leg out at a time. Then roll away from the danger area.

quick sand is like muddy water

If you are in quicksand you can't go anywhere. your Stuck. If you mean what's under the quicksand. just more sand. eventually rock. you sink and die and stay there.
