If you paid your lawyer two grand just to file, You paid about $1300 to much. and he is right. You are just stuck.

if the lawyer did not ask you if you filed less than 8 yrs agao before taking your money then you have legal recourse which means you can not only file a grievance with the bar association but also can sue the lawyer although to sue a scumbag lawyer you need an even bigger scumbag lawyer

That's one of the first questions your attorney should have asked you. You should consider complaining to the state bar and/or taking him to small claims because lawyers should not keep unearned fees. Another idea would be to let him hold on to the retainer until the 8 years is up.

THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. YOUR LAWYER TOOK YOU FOR YOUR MONEY, I FILED BACK IN 1997 AND ONLY PAID A 1000 FOR IT.
