if you say period it only counts once

at the start of each period.....overtime is a period.
after a goal....and when the referee makes a mistake.........also if there is a delayed penalty and the puck is touched around center ice...thats where the faceoff would be.....

- Start of a period.

- After a goal.

- Premature goalkeeper substitution (if played under USA Hockey rules, reference Rule 205(b).

- If the Linesmen err while calling icing, puck is faced off at center ice (except in USA Hockey games, where the puck is faced off at the nearest end zone face off spot to where the puck crossed the goal line).

* Overtime if you want to get technical

Bonus: If offsides pass comes from right on the center dot
