Sometimes frozen peas work better than ice b/c they'll fit around a bump better. If your daughter has an elasticy headband you can keep it on with that. Check eye dialation by making him close his eyes for a bit & open them, with a flashlight. If they dialate at the same rate, no concussion. Seeing as the bump is convex & not a disturbing indentation, I, personally, wouldn't drag my family to the emergency to endure 6 hours of hell. (Just a personal preference--this is definitely my nonmedical opinion.) Think I'm a bad parent if you want.

First, I would be certain his nose isn't broken. Then yes give the Motrin for pain. It will help him get some rest. If the bump isn't getting better in a day or two I would make an appointment with the doctor just to be safe. My kids are clumsy so I've been there too.

The motrin should work just fine. You know your son better than anyone. If he is acting normal, just keep watching him. You don't have to run to the doc's everytime they get a bump. I have 4 and the doc's have told me "Better out than in".....meaning for a bump. The older they get the more you will realize this. But then again, with the way the world is today, if he goes to preschool or anything, you should have a document showing you got him medical attention so they don't say you did it. So you'll have to think this one out. It's not his last bump he will ever get either. They have lots! And come through them just fine!

Motrin will help with the pain, did you try to suck out his nose so he could breath better? If the bump is concaved in the middle, you should have him looked at soon. If both pupils dilate the same he is fine.

Be sure to put an ice pack or frozen veggie pack if you don't have an ice pack on his head. Keep him up- he might have a concussion. Try a childrens tylenol. And try to get into the ER or at least call and ask them what they think before you waste your time in line with a fussy child. hope he gets to feelin better! tc
p.s. move the drawer from beside the bed :)

If it were me, I would take him to the ER just as a precaution. Any time a child has a head injury it needs to be checked. Especially if he has a huge bump. He could have a hairline fracture. And if he is having trouble breathing, why in Gods name are you online and NOT at the ER already??

Personally I would recommend taking him to the emergency room or making an appointment with his pediatrician. Although he may seem normal to you it is still safe to get it checked out by a professional just to be on the safe side. Especially since he was bleeding and he is an infant. Hope he is ok!

Take him to the emergency room to get checked out. Injuries that serious need to be checked by the doc right away.

You should take the child to the doctor. A closed head injury is nothing to mess with. Be safe and take your baby for medical attention.
