I highly doubt the United Kingdom will give up it's royalty, after the present Queen dies. The Monorachy has been able to adjust to the times. When the Queen passes away the Crown would go to her next heir, Charles, however the laws on the books in England state that a divorcee cannot ascend the throne. I don'[t know how likely it is that this law will be enforced, but if enforced the Monorachy will be better off, No one really wants Charles to be King. William seems more in touch with the poeple. The Queen has not stepped down, because there is a lot more she can teach William. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

The purpose is that people seem to have a sort of fascination with royalty. Besides, the royal subjects do have some say in government. There is talk, however, that Great Britain will cease to have royalty after Queen Elizabeth II dies.

Tradition. I doubt if any royal would give up his or her title. Being a royal is like being a celebrity. Everyone wants to meet one.
