I am going to be selling my car soon, but it has a few cosmetic problems, it still runs perfectly. The car is a 2000 Lincoln LS and has about 150,000 miles on it. I just want to know if fixing some things will increase my selling price.

The passenger side door handle is off, the middle storage console is broken (just needs new hindge), there is a white mark on the back fender from the car being in a parking lot, the windsheild is old and has a asmall crack, airbag light is on, back passenger window brokern (needs new motor).

Want some advice on what is or is not worth fixing.

There are several things that will need to be checked first before you can say for sure how much it will cost to get the car back on the road. First thing the brakes, and car left for an extended time on a drive will develop rust on the brake drums and discs. Some time you can be lucky and simply by driving the car, however often you need use a soft hammer to strike the brake drums to release the brake shoes. Second thing will be the battery, you need to stick the battery on charge and see if it will hold a charge. If not you will need to change it. Third fuel, if the car has stood for 4 years the fuel in the tank will have "Gone off". If the tank is full you will need to drain the fuel and replace it. If however it is not full you will get away will filling the tank with fresh fuel. Fourth engine, as the car has stood for some time the oil that normally lubricates the pistons will have drained down into the sump of the engine. You will need to remove the spark plugs and pour about a tea spoon of engine oil into each of the spark plug holes. Give the plugs a good clean before refitting them. After having do all this you should have a good idea what additional work is required to get the car back on the road. Ja.

The more that is wrong with it the more it seems like a piece of junk and less you can get for it if you want to sell it. Doing the little cosmetic things helps in selling it faster. That is why used car lots use Armour All alot. Nice and shiny. Fix what you can easily do door handle, white mark -leave the windshield and the window motor. Expect to be negotiated down because of the windshield, but the chances of them checking out the back window is slim. You don't have to tell them....it is not a hazard. Knowing why warning lights are on would help. "If you buy used, you can't expect new."

Little fix-ups and a good clean-up won't really get much more on the sale, but it could make a difference in whether you do sell or not! Just do the cheaper fix-up jobs, and be sure you do a slam-bang job on cleaning, detailing, and maybe waxing. The shinier it is, the better the chances of it's selling, at any price.

It depends if you are selling to a private buyer or if you are just planning on trading it in at a dealership. If you're trading it in, don't do anything to it because they don't really inspect it much before valuing it. If it's for a private buyer, I would probably just fix the side door handle because that is going to be an obvious flaw and people might be turned off by that.

I would get the handle fixed, the middle console, and the marker on the back fender. I think that this will deffenitly up the value to a buyer and will help you to get top dollar.

I would'nt spend too much money on it . The cracked windshield may be a safety issue and you should look into it the airbag light is not acceptable that could be xpensive.

no its going to help it that much, unless some of the stuff can be repaired real cheap,,anything you spend on it you might not get it back,,id leave something for the buyer to fix,,as long as it runs and drives real good that's the important part of it,,good luck hope this help,s.
