There are 6.4 billion people on planet Earth. Earth is only one of infinite planets in the infinite amount of space. It seems as though one individual, in the entire scope of things, really does not matter at all. Moreover, planet Earth itself doesnt seem to matter that much considering the size of the universe. If we are all going to die, and eventually be forgotten, then why do we live? If our actions mean so little, than why do we care so much about them? I have reached my own conclusions, but I am interested to see what others think.

There is no point. You hear it here, there is no point to life/existence. But the fact is, we all have to do it. So we do things like justification, wherein we try and find meaning where there is no meaning.

We do things like come up with ideas like purpose or love and use them as notions for causation to exist. The fact is, life is what you make of it, pure and simple. You can choose to life a modest, meager existence or you can shoot for the stars. The first answer is right, a single rock can make a different. Look at Adolf Hitler, Abraham Lincoln, Joseph Stalin, or anyone else that has had their voice heard worldwide. However, what seperates those people from everyone else is A) their world viewpoint and B) their manner of thinking. They were overachievers, who shot for the stars because they believed in things like purpose and destiny and hard work ethic. That's one way to live.

The other way is to live for hedonism, because ultimately it all ends the same and all you can hope for is to say it was good and fun.

There are many of other schools of thought on how to live your life, but I say ultimately there is no real point. The point is a smoke screen, it's the ultimate why that has no answer because the question doesn't apply. There is no point unless you assign one(and believe it wholeheartedly); and how you tackle that is entirely up to you.

Look at when you were not born. .....................my point you cant look back at a time when you didnt live. Now when you say that you will die and eventually be forgotten YOUR WRONG . EX. Martin Luther King now what did he do. he made the world and i do mean the world racially from being 2 to 1.How did he do that. by taking action making the world different and he is immortle my point is their is no meaning of life and their is a meaning for life.Do i really think there is a heaven maybe but i have strong doubts because their is no proof and no one told us that their was 1. I mean lets face it if you are on earth you havent been in heaven and cant say theres one but jesus said that he knew there was one. Now its not a question ''why are we here'' now 6.4 billion people is a lot but if you were not born that would be 5.999,999 and thats a different number to me.We are here for the sake of life and to be something other than space being nothing. We were all put here equally and i think all the things we have now like the goverment and police are unfair and i think no one should have to listen to someone else that is considered higher ranked. Its sounds the way you say that why are we here it sounds like you think we shouldnt. Now if someone said you were going to be exucuted tommorow would yo be scared YES why? because we want to live and that is why we live

If you read this thanks and i hope i put a new look into perspective.

On the scale of earthly time, individual lives are but mere blinks of an eye. We're born, we live, we die and then you're not heard from ever again. There might be a tombstone or family tree made with your name on it, but eventually the tombstone weathers from age and who knows what media your family tree will be used. All the memories and accomplishments will be totally forgotten, unless you're a Hitler or Alexander the Great type person. In a thousand years, your bones will be dust and no other trace of your existence will be seen, unless, of course you become fossilized for some reason, but even then, after thousands of years more, that will be disintegrated into dust. We influence the lives of our children and others, but they too will eventually die. So what's the point of living?

In astronomical terms, the Earth will eventually succumb to the supernova of our Sun, it's an astonomically certainty the earth will be burned to a crisp.

So does death render our lives meaningless. If we were immortal, that would be the ultimate in boredom, repetition, day after day, of doing the same thing for thousands of years (hundreds may be OK, but nothing beyond that)....but i digress, back to the meaning of our little lives.

It all boils down to how creative we can be in the short period of time we have on this earth....Our activities need to be worthwhile for their own sake, not because they fulfill some supernatural transcendental purpose....LIVE DAMNIT

Everything exists for you for some eternal process. If one person is lost, or not accounted for, the fabric of existence will unravel. Don't worry about sin, eternal suffering, damnation, etc. The purpose of this brief moment of existence is to experience good and evil,(we know when we are doing good or bad) the use of your free will, and to endure life on a daily basis. Don't give up, as you are never more apart of this eternal process as you are now. God, or the universice, exists on the principles of mercy, love, forgiveness, patience, and freedom of choice. Some progress faster and some progress slower, no matter what leverl of earth life one is living or where one is living. No one person or one book, or one religion speaks exclusivley for the Gods or the Universe. Diversity is an eternal principle. A goal is to take this diversity, tension and conflict and integrate them into a cooperative effort. Service to others is the only commodity that has value in this life and the next. Don't have grief over the suffering and misshaps that happen to you in this life, for there is nothing that happens to you that will not be made right in the here after. You will know a man of God by the service he gives to others concerning the human condition and without pay and without him setting up any church or saying he is chosen by God. Have hope in the mercy of God, his justice, his forgiveness and his ability to give you all that he has (and He will still have everything) throughout the eternities.

I once heard this really great story about how important we each really are. It's about this rock that was on top of many other rocks and so they all were placed together in order to stop the river from coming through and flooding the village. But that same rock felt that it had no importance in the world and what difference could one rock make, so it jumped and commited "suicide". That rock was covering a space in that wall and since it was no longer there the water from the river came through that hole and pushed all the other rocks out of the way and flooded the village and all the people that lived there. Hope that story helps in answering your question

Dont dwell about the existence of god because honestly NOONE knows about it no matter how much some people tend to claim to... Life is about the here and now so dont look forward to an after-life because u never know if there is one. Do everything you've ever wanted. If you have a Goal I suggest you follow it however try not to make it an impossible one. Be a good person, find someone who you Love and loves you for who you are, have children, settle down, get a good job, excpect the worst, understand that some people are Lucky and some people arent as lucky as others. Learn as much as you can about our world and its contents. spread your knowledge and wisdom to your children.

It is much more simply than you might think. We are here because God created us to love us, and to have us love him in return. I think what makes this look like it is hard to understand is because of the fact the when he created us he also gave us free will and the right to chose our own paths of good or evil as well as faith or we can choose not to believe in a God at all. The fact that so many people have chosen not to believe has caused much hardship and suffering on earth. A good book you might enjoy is called "The purpose driven life" check it out as well as the Bible and good luck , hope to meet you in heaven.

From where I sit, there really is no point to life. Looking at it from a universal perspective, our existence really doesn't matter. But it is our inherent fear of death that keeps us here. So in the meantime, we try to enjoy life as best we can until we die.

We are here to grow spiritually. The obstacles and tests we encounter are for that purpose. In the womb we obtain whats necessary to function in this world. In this world we obtain what is necessary to function in the next world, attributes like truthfulness compassion loyalty and kindness.
