It depends on who the compliment comes from.
It also depends on the compliment. If someone tells me i'm so smart because I know how to get info off google, I'm not flattered.
It also depends on whether it took effort. If someone tells me I'm smart because I spelled fecundity during Scrabble, I'm still not flattered because it's just a common word.
If my ex tells me I look beautiful or pretty, I'm hella flattered because he broke up with me. If a guy at the club tries to flatter me, I don't buy it.
It's all completely qualitative.

I was born with the looks I have and I was also born with the brains I have so it is hard to be flattered by recognition of either since I had nothing to do with either.
Being recognized for something I have created or accomplished begins to flatter me but I refer back to item one.
It's damned hard to remain humble though.

I like being recognized as being a smart woman, but I also enjoy getting compliments on my looks, so I'd have to answer either/or!

when i was younger a compliment about my looks was very important.what did i know? but now,that kind of thing is very nice but i would much rather someone say that i had a thought provoking point or i had helped them in some way. but who am i kidding? any compliment is accepted.
