I came out to my dad not that long ago that I'm bi. He was pretty quiet about the entire situation. I'm afraid he's silently rejecting me. How can I tell if he's really accepted me and what should I do if he hasn't. Also, I haven't told my mom. What should I do if he tells her without my knowledge because I don't think I'll come out to her in the near future?

I'm going through this myself. If you have the kind of relationship with your father that you can come out to him, you probably also have an open enough relationship to do what I did:

I asked him point blank to not tell my mother and to let me tell her myself when I was ready.

I also asked him honestly if he accepted me and loved me still. He told me that he loved me but can't accept my relationship. I appreciated that he was honest.

Good luck, hon!

Depending how you were raised? They may be against it. Unless you know how open your parents are, you should of had some kind of clue due to past behavior what they think about bi's or gays or whatever it is. Anyhow, give them some space and some time. Sometimes people are young and just experiment, and then they just stop and get married. I don't know how young or old you are, but I'm sure that also makes a difference to them. Just remember its your life, and you can't always make everyone happy. Cause some day there gonna be gone, and your gonna be on your own, living your life. So, might as well do it now.

Well i came out to my dad of course not willingly he found out in the worst way and he gave me the silent treatment for a while but eventually he came around and he accepts it and he seems pretty comfortable with it as for the and my mother still doesn't know but my step mom does and she was more than ok with it just give him some time he'll come around and if he doesn't there isn't much you can do but be happy with yourself

there is arabic saying says''the silence is a sign of the acceptance''which means if someone asks u big question or opened a big subject with u and u just got silent it means u accept it although u r not very happy with it coz believe me if ur dad doesnot accept u,he wouldnot be silent,he would say all what in his heart coz as u know it's a disaster for parents to find out that their daughter/son is homosexual

Why did you come out to one parent and not the other? Anyways, just ask your dad and if he won't give you an answer then I think that's answer enough.

To me the best thing that you can do is not advertise and ask for problems, but at the same time be honest with everyone. Especially with yourself.

It's very likely he'll tell her. Tell her so it coms from you snd not your dad. You need to give him time. He'll need time to process and accept it all

I would not worry about it. If he's acting just the same as he did before you told him than no worries.

Talk to him, get father-daughter counselling and kindly ask him not to disclose anything to your mom.
