Like in Gocery store lines, traffic, waiting for service on the phone?
Are we really THAT busy or just plain spoiled by convienience?
And yes, I am an American who sometimes gets impatient, but am asking this for a survey to be used in a local paper. Thank you!

well it depends on where in the US you live.
True, the bigger cities and more populated areas certainly want their instant gratification/ quick fix. But when I moved from san Francisco to the Mountains woah. I had to readjust my pace, cause they just...dont...do..it..like...
Three years later I'm still frustrated! I'm at Burger King thinking hello...you call this fast food, what did you run out to pluck the potatoes from the ground...lets move! So yeah some are impatient, some aren't. Some are busy others enjoy their easy breezy pace. Hurry up I gotta get to my next question. lol

We are definitely spoiled by convenience. I want everything 15 minutes ago. If it takes more then 3 seconds for a newsclip to load on cnn.com, I close the window. If it takes longer then 5 minutes at the drive thru I drive off.......It's not that I'm normally in a hurry, I just hate waiting. I am impatient with my people at work, with my kids at home and with myself. At work I am driven and actually run a tight ship. I like to win awards. I am addicted to them. In a lot of ways, I am rewarded for my impatience. I won't wait for things to be perfect. I want it perfect NOW. Just like that girl in Willy Wonka - the bratty one that chewed gum all the time. If I complain because service took too long - I'll get a discount. If my internet isn't fast enough, I can drop the company in 2 seconds and get a new one. Why would I stop doing something that gets me what I want?

Because today everything is based on convienience. Every is in a hurry.....you can now pay for gas at the pump....scan your own groceries....etc. There is not enough time in the day to get everything done. I get pretty impatient sometimes too. I guess I get frustrated cuz I work and go to school and do housework and sometimes it seems like there is no time to relax.

I think it's a combination of being too busy to do everything we need to do in a day and being spoiled by convenience.

Honestly, we are awake for 16 hours in a day. We spend 8 of those hours at work which leaves us 8 hours to do everything else. We spend anywhere from half an hour to 2 hours getting ready for and commuting to and from work. That leaves us 6 hours in the worst case scenario to do all of the following:

Eat breakfast and dinner
Workout
Take care of the kids if we have any
Do chores at home
Find time for ourselves to relax and participate in hobbies

So, honestly, how do we not be impatient? We just don't have the time.

(The solution, I think, is a shorter work day. But that's just me.)

Yeah i could ought to agree for the main section. There seems to be this thought that oneself has the final of way in any respect situations and anybody else is meant to artwork around that. working retail section time it grew to grow to be sooo sparkling only how thoughtless maximum individuals of people are. the individuals who do no longer tear the situation up, do no longer trash the setting up room, and don't permit their little ones do despite the hell they desire, are an extremely small minority. maximum are fairly thoughtless and that i despise them for it. using the roads or working with the wide-unfold public truly makes you hate human beings... human beings of each and every age act like this.

I believe there are many impatient Americans; but, there are also Americans who are patient, compassionate, loving, caring.

We've become accustomed to instant gratification. We also try to do our own work fast and consider that a good thing.

this is the case in most urbanised societies, not just in US - it's quite similar here in Asia. Indeed! "instant self-gratification" sounds like it

I believe that the true reason is that we are so spoiled
and used to having everything at our fingers tips .
