I mean is it not being forced upon us? I believe he was a fanatical dictator out of control and his regime led to thousands of deaths and he needed to be brought down! but who else feels the lesson learned and the hearts to heal would have been better served by his life spent in prison exiled from Iraq?

I think that Saddam was a horrible person.. But it was completely sick to see pictures of his dead body swaying from a rope. My 4yrld neice saw those pictures on the news and started to bawl. She didn't even understand what had happened but seeing him like that and knowing that it was an actual body and not some sort of hollywood fake really freaked her out.
A life sentence would have done the job. A life is a life, we have no right to take it.

Eliminating the scourge from the planet shows what happens to horrid inhumane people. It's called justice. Too bad we don't take a clue from the Iraqis and carry out death sentences within 30 days, instead of the customary 15-20.

Sorry but personally I don't think neithe rthe people of Iraq or the united states should hav ebeen forced to feed and care for him for the res tof his life.
I feel personally all executions should have been public in front ot any and all who wished to se it.
Did you not see any of the old news casts(which our liberal media has been slow to show recently during the trial) where Saddam hand picked opponents out of the Iraqi parliment to have them taken out back of the building and have them shot?
The man deserved nothing short of the worst to happen to him.

The excessive coverage of the execution is in poor taste, especially given the demise of President Ford.

Exile would have been just as fitting as execution, especially since he was 69 or 70, but finding a country that: 1) would take him, and 2) the US would let him go to, would have been politically difficult. We couldn't throw him in Guantanamo, we don't want him in Venezuela, and none of our European allies would take him.

I feel that his execution shouldn't be exploited because it was punishment, justice, and NOT revenge.

Revenge leads to the spiral of violence. It's emotional and irrational. Justice is sanctioned, condoned, and necessary if a country is to abide by its laws.

It is Iraq's law that his crimes are punishable by death and they would be in our country as well. Saddam's execution was justice served.

It is so horrible... a life is a life no matter what they do in their time.... many americans like to watch it because it is viloence and the contry other than being obbssed with celebrities is obsessed with violence.... why would any person want to watch a person die... it is so sad that many americans love to watch it... but it is like the Steve Irwin thing.... everyone wanted to see the poor mands heart stabbed.. it is disgusting that we are so obsessed

No, I don't think it was exploited. I think it's was shown as an example of consequences for actions. The Iraqi people affected by this monster deserved justice and they got it. I would be interested to know, for those who answered a life is a life no matter what no one has the right to take it. What about abortion? Are you intellectually honest, are you against abortion?

I disagree. As long as he was alive his supporters were going to fight in the belief that he would be put back in power. Hopefully, his death will discourage some of his supporters and will lessen the violence in Iraq.
