Lately i had a problem with my accord 2002 LXI of little overheating, After checking i come to know that its thermostat is faulty. Company doesnt have one now in stock. Can i drive my car safely and normally without it. As im in Dubai and climate over here is in between 10-48 degree centigrade. Relatively hot place.
If i do so is it going to harm my car performance and damage my engine or cooling system or anything? or is it just fine? As i am getting lot of different responses which made me confused of this matter. So i appreciate if as much as people can answer this (who know the fact) so that i can count the no of people is saying positive or negative response. Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Well its not the best but you can, without it the car will take a longer time to warm up and once it is warm because the water will be able to circulate as fast as the water pump can go the water will not have as much time to cool down as it passes through the radiator so the whole system may heat soak to a level which could cause some over heating in that climate, bottom line is just let your car warm up a little longer and than keep an eye on the temp gauge untill you can get a T-stat.

If the car runs too cool it will confuse the computer... You could use the old thermostat temporarily by jamming it in the full open position.. that would allow almost full flow in the cooling system while still restricting the flow enough to allow the hot coolant some time in the radiator to cool down.. with no thermostat at all it will flow too fast to cool down.. get a new proper thermostat as soon as you can.. The computer controlled car must have it to run properly. Too cool and it will run rich and burn up the catalytic converter and carbon up the EGR valve.. good luck..

i mechanic for a living,,and you can drive it for a while like this,,but it needs the thermostat in it to keep the temperature at a steady temp,,also the computer has to know that the car is at operating temperature also,,but it wont hurt it for a short while, since its hot there it will be alright,,and you,ll still have your air conditioner,,the thermostat has nothing to do with the air conditioner,,good luck hope this help,s.

It may affect your fuel mileage but that's all. If the car was purchased over there then you won't have all the computer stuff on it that we have in the U.S.A If we had that problem it would make a big difference. You are lucky one

it wont harm the motor vehicle no count number if it somewhat is only non everlasting. case in point in the journey that your thermostat is caught closed and you eliminate it to get you domicile this is nice. your motor vehicle will only run cooler than commonly used and use greater gasoline.
