I have been posting here the last few days about my pains and stuff. well yesterday i noticed something new... i was getting these bad bad pains in my stomac, along with the horrible back aches that i have normally been getting. today has been alot worse, today the pains were stronger and more often, i got them from like 10 am to about 4 pm, every 15 mins or so. now i dont know if these are real contractions or what, but they have stoped so far today, they dont feel the same way as the braxston hicks, they are alot more painful. i dont know what real contractions feel like but these were strong enough to make me stop what i was doing and curl up in a ball. also the baby got hiccups earlyer and it felt like she was about half way out i felt them SO low. could this be my body getting ready or do you think that its something that i need to worry about? i called my doc and they said they cant see anyone because they are so booked so i have to keep my appointment for thurs. thanks so much!!

How far pregnant are you? If the pains have settled down, chances are it's not labor. True labor gets more painful no matter what you do. When you have pain, put your hand on the top of your uterus. If it gets hard like a rock, then relaxes (over about a minute or so), then you are having contractions. If you are less than 35 weeks gestation and having more than 6 contractions in an hour that are uncomfortable, you need to go to the hospital for an exam. If you are more than 35 weeks, wait until your contractions are about every 5 minutes and strong enough that you can't really talk through them; when that happens, go to the hospital for a labor check.

Good luck!

P.S. If you start bleeding like a period or you think your water breaks, that's an automatic reason to go to the hospital right away

Im not sure how far along in your pregnancy that you are, but I also had the same pains. My doctor told me that it was ligaments and muscles stretching from the rapid weight gain of the baby in the last trimester. Im not sure where you are living, but I do know that there is a program at Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital called MOTHERISK. They are a team of nurses that take calls. They helped me so much during my pregnancy with so many questions that I had. If the pain persists or gets worse, I would deffinatley go to the hospital, just to be on the safe side, and for your own piece of mind....take care and congratulations :0)

How far along are you? I know with me, the braxton hicks contractions got stronger the further along I got. You should go to the hospital so they can hook you up to the monitor and see whats going on. I know everytime I had pains like that, I called my doctor and he told me to go to the hospital so they can check everything out. They can tell on the monitor if they are real contractions, if they are, they'll check to see if your dialated. Hope this helps, and good luck.

it would help to know how far along you are. when you are feeling like that just go to the labor and delivery part of the hospital and they will admitt you and a doc. has to come and check your cervix and see what is going on ...it might not be your obgyn but someone is on call.... I had bad pains when i was prego and it was because i was dehidrated.... drink plenty of water and see if it helps... hope you get to feeling better....

If your doctor won't see you and the pain is that bad then go to the ER. There could be a problem, even if the pain comes and goes.
