A little background info: I'm 17 years old, I weigh about 135-140, I'm 5'-9" (maybe a little taller), and I'm a male. I run about 30-50 miles per week for about 11 months out of the year, and I lift weights 2 or 3 times a week. I'd like to think I'm in shape. I wouldn't say I'm a healthy eater, but I probably have a better-than-average diet.

That's why I'm bothered. My resting heart rate is usually in the 70's. My blood pressure is high (I believe 108/78 last time I had it measured, which was about 2 weeks ago). There's also a few other things that may be related. I bruise very easily, and bruises and cuts don't heal as fast as they should. Also, my ribcage is not symmetrical. In the center where it meets, the left side seems to be pushed into my chest more than my right side. When my heart beats, it is very noticeable on my chest (you can see my chest move every time my heart beats). I don't know if any of these conditions are related, but should I be concerned?

This may seem like an odd thing to do, but when I rotate my upper body without moving my hips or legs, it becomes difficult to breathe. If I'm breathing in or out, it only comes a little bit at a time (i.e. breath, no breath, breath, no breath, all within about a second). It's as though the air is being blocked for short spurts of time over and over while I'm rotating. Most of the feeling seems to come from the left side of my chest.

A resting heart rate in the 70's is normal and your blood pressure is perfect. As far as cuts not healing as fast- probably nothing but if you have family with diabetes, this is one thing a simple blood test can check. Otherwise, I wouldn't be too concerned.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with you. I have done stretches and exercises where my hips stay in a place and my upper body moves. It is very difficult to breath full breaths while doing this exercises (its normal).

As for the issue of seeing your lungs move when your heart beats, I believe that is normal as well. You are a very skinny boy and therefore it is normal to see your lungs beat.

I wouldn't worry about these issues too much. You are only 17, have fun, get drunk, get high.

First, a blood pressure of 108/78 is not high. It's perfectly normal for your size.
It sounds as if your more scared or nervous and thats why you seem to feel your heart beating harder.
You should go to a doctor if you are really concerned. It almost sounds like you have a hiatal hernia.

Your blood pressure is a little low actually but not bad..Ideal is 120/80....the concave in your chest should be checked out by a physician, it could be affecting your health... And, although you would like your resting pulse rate lower...anywhere from 60-100 bpm is normal.
See the doc!
