Thank you very much for your answers. One thing is clear to me - next fight is coming very soon! Keep fighting! Maybe it'll help all of us become a little bit smarter than we are now. Of course, if any of us will be able to survive at all

I do agree with you that we should not have invaded, but America has been attacked. Most recently, Japan attacked. True, Hawaii wasn't a state then, but it was a part of America. You also forget that Britain attacked not too long after we got our independence. Mexico, with Spain's help, attacked trying to get back lands we got from them. You might wanna try to research something before you pose a question.

Isn't Afghanistan a Muslim country? The government of Afghanistan, the Taliban, funded and protected Al Qaida within it's borders. Al Qaida attacked the US on 9/11/2001. I think that qualifies as a country attacking us. What do you include as America attacking a Muslim country? When we went to Serbia to protect Muslims from the the Milosevic genocide was that America attacking a Muslim country? When we defended Kuwaiti Muslims from the Iraqi invasion in 1991 was that America attacking a Muslim country? When we helped Afghani Muslims fight the Soviet invasion in 1979 was that America attacking a Muslim country?

Like everyone else said: We *have* been attacked.
We are a superpower. We are currently the only nation with the ability to fight a war on the other side of the world. Also, who would the shi'ites in Iraq ask for help? Iran? they just got done with the Iran-Iraq war, they won't help. Afghanistan and Pakistan just don't have the power. The other muslim countries are predominatly Sunnis, so they won't invade Iraq. The U.S. is the only country with Ideals to fight for.

If your people was constantly tortured and oppressed, or even gassed, do you really need to be asked whether you want the regime to be overthrown? I think not.

So...this question was really about Iraq. Why didn't you just say so?
Did you not know that during the Gulf War, the Iraqi people cried when we left, because they thought we were there to liberate them? Did you know how many assassination plots against Hussein were foiled?
Ask the Iraqi people yourself. Most of them are glad we came in.

Wrong! We were attacked by the British in the War of 1812. Attacked by Mexico in 1846 and again by Pancho Villa in 1916. We were attacked by Spain in 1898 (they blew up the USS Maine in Havana Harbor). We were attacked by Japan on Dec. 7th, 1941 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and again by a lone airplane that fire-bombed a forest in Oregon. The Japanese also invaded a couple of the Aluetian Islands off the coast of Alaska. We were attacked by Nazi U-boats in our territorial waters during WWII also.

To answer your question, politely, since you asked the question politely, we were, indeed, attacked by Saddam Hussain.

When asked to defend Kuwait, an ally, we supported their troops with equipment and advice when Saddam attacked their country. Iraq attacked our men and equipment as well, which was expected, but went out of his way to attack us specifically. We warned him not to multiple times, requesting he return to his own borders. He refused and continued his attack. We helped Kuwait fight him back to the border and requested he end his attacks. He refused. We tried talking to him all the way to the borders of Baghdad. Finally, he agreed to a cease-fire (not peace) and the terms: Unobstructed United Nations inspections.

He broke that agreement, multiple times, and fired at our planes over the no-fly zone repeatedly, then sent an assassin to kill President Bush (the older one).

I'd say he attacked us quite well. And suffered appropriately for it. Our one mistake?

No more nation building. Japan gave up because we broke them.

Next time we are attacked: 1) Give them one week to vacate the the top three cities; 2) Bomb one of them to the ground, utterly destroying it; 3) Give them our peace offer; 4) They accept completely AND follow through OR Refuse or play games; 5) We go back to peace, quickly, efficiently, leaving them ALONE OR we repeat steps 1-4.

Afghanistan also attacked us.

North Korea, as much of a thorn in our side as it is, has NOT attacked us, thus we have not attacked them. Neither has Iran (at least we haven't got enough proof that the terrorists attacking our troops come from them). Thus we haven't attacked Iran.

It's really pretty simple. Don't attack us. Don't get attacked back.

I can agree with the futility of the Iraq War, but one wonders how much weed you were smoking in history class. Perhaps you have heard of the British (Revolution, War of 1812), the Mexicans (sorta, kinda 1846 and definitely in 1916 with Pancho Villa) the Germans use of submarine warfare on our ships in both World Wars prior to our entry into them ( A ship is considered U.S.territory and since I work on them I don't like the idea of being attacked all right kid?) the japanese attack on Pearl Harbor as well as their balloon bomb attacks late in the war too. One of them killed a family at a picnic in Oregon in 1945 if I remember correctly. Also lets not forget Osama Bin Raghead's little tiff with us in 2001. If not their help,he certainly had the benevolent collusion with the taliban government of Afghanistan.
Ignorance may be bliss but it sure looks stupid to the rest of us. That and please pick up a spelling book too, O.K.? I'm not perfect but please speak what you write before you send it. You'll even think you sound uneducated!!

We have been attacked and there are Iraqi people that want us there... they just don't make the news because it doesn't interest people like you. There are no rules that say anyone has to ask America for its help, people just go to America often because it will stick its neck out there to help often times.

Should a police officer wait until the rape victim is actually asking for help? Or should he render aid when he sees it is needed?

I may not agree with all of our strategies and tactics in Iraq, but something was long overdue. It's unfortunate that it took an opportunistic administration to do so (Clinton should have taken a stronger stance years ago), but something had to be done. I just wish there hadn't been so many damn lies, insulting the American public's collective intelligence.

It's a dirty world, and sometimes people have to die to make it safer for the rest of us. When you have better, more realistic solution (one that doesn't involve waving a magic wand and hoping all the bad things go away), call me.
