Our IT guys wear jeans & ties, so no prob. When in doubt though, go with Dockers or khakis. They're built tough but stay pretty neat. You might also want to pick up a Tide erase-stick. It's a tube of concentrated laundry soap that cleans up most biodegradable stains. Not sure how it works on under-desk gunk tho' ;)

As long as your shirt and tie are clean and pressed you should be fine. Just be sure that your jeans are appropriate for work (ie. no carpenter jeans). Also, dark denim can give you a more dressed up look. And lofers are always a great compliment to this look.

As a model that works with fashion nearly everyday of my life, I will say there is no problem with wearing a shirt & tie with good jeans. If you look good in it & it looks professional for the job you are doning, why not!!

I love the look personally. It's nice! I know that the IT department at the company I work for gets to just dress casual everyday due to the nature of their jobs.

why not set your own style? I think a little upscale on the usual jeans wear is a great idea!

The tie may be going a bit too far..... A good dress shirt and good, newer, dark bluejeans should be O.K..
