First, sounds like he is trying to cause trouble. Second, never trust what someone tells you in a situation like this. Ya see if he can cause you to break up with her..he can make his play. Seen this one before...it does work sometimes. Don't fall for it.

ask her first and if its true then let her go to be with the one that she loves you'll get over her in time

Ask her about her feelings towards both of you. Decide from there.
