If you know you are gonna have a wreck in a car, do brake as much and as hard as you can to lower your speed as much as possible before impact, tho experts say to avoid getting into a skid. You might not have time to think about doing that, tho--they advise pumping on the brakes. Steer away if you have time, but you should already have in your mind an impression of which side (if any) is clear--always try to keep an escape route available when you are driving. If you have time, cover your face with your arms and hands. But the best advice is try to avoid an accident in the first place, do not follow too close, do not chat at all on a cel phone, do not play with the radio or CDs, just concentrate on your driving. I didn't know there was a "safe" way to have an accident. And if you're planning on having one, if it's intentional, it's not really called an "accident".
