Ok so basically I am worring my self sick over final exams next week that count 50% of our grade. To begin with our honors biology teacher found out that she has cancer at the beginging of the year so we had her 1 day and have had different subs since then, I have learned nothing and am scared to death that I am going to fail that exam. And then honors english is absolutely horrible, manly the teacher not the work but still. So I guess what im asking is, how can I deal with this constant stress and worry. Ive tried everything from music to excercise but i just cant stop stressing out.

You have a real problem! I can tell you that when I had final exams in high school, I had nose bleeds the entire time in every semester. But the real cause of stress is not the exams! It is not the teacher. It is not the lack of consistency in teaching. It is you! Many students who are sincere about educating themselves are under undue stress because of fear of failure. Did you try hard? Are you a good worker? Did you try your best? Do you like School? Are your parents hard on you to succeed? Answer yes to all of the above, and you WILL pass! Stop worrying, everyone who is as willing as you are will be rewarded. I know.

Hi Trippy. Be more positive, you was surprised by the previous results you got which you wasn't expecting and maybe the same will happen again, even though you haven't done the preparation you should have. It is all about studying rather than lack of concentration. Video games require just as much attention but they are fun and revision is all a bit of a chore. What you should have considered doing, is revising for a period say, two hours and then taking a break - but not with video games more relaxation, for 45 minutes and then back to revision for another two hours. Constant breaks really do work, even if you just walk around or just relax but nothing that particularly demanding. Also studying with a friend, even if you are doing different subjects, it's just the discipline of having someone else around you doing the same thing. It is really unfortunate that good grades in A levels which are desperately important if you are to stand out from the crowd, to require a lot of effort. But you will know that the effort required is probably one of the best investments you will ever make. Take care.

This may sound like silly psychobabble but when nothing "healthy" works to de-stress me I do this: On paper figure out the worst thing that can happen out of this whole bombing out on final fear. Write it down in detail and then keep going like this and it means that.......and that means that.......keep going until you can't come up with anymore( I usually end up thinking I'm dead because of xx xx happening. This doesn't take forever and when your done you can look at that, burn it, ask yourself what the very next thing you need to get done and smile cause life really isn't as bad as we think. Lots of folks will tell you that the only problems we really suffer from are the ones in our thinking about stuff that may never happen. Just breathe afterwards and do your best. You can't control any of it other than doing your personal best.

I know that this answer will seem like the last thing that you should possibly do but stop studying and take some time off. Its seems like you are wasting time not studying but it really refreshes your brain and will make your studying more productive. Also the class with the teacher with cancer will be graded in an understanding way. If you have gone to class and taken notes then you will be fine. That is the way that undergraduate degree programs work. I promise you will be fine.

I like to but a half gallon of rum the night b4 exams and drink half. Then I like to phone in sick and take the exam much later after I've talked to my friends about the exam and the questions.
