people say metal but can you call it rock music?

Rock is metal and metal is rock so yea.... As long as there is a guitar, some drums, and a bass and sounds badass then yea.

Like MKBrown said, metal is rock. All form of metal is basically rock or having its roots in rock music.Rock music itself has its own root.
Metal is just a genre of rock music.

i guess they can..i don't know though..i've never really understood the popularity of them..i'm into rock music..but i just don't get the hype metallica gets.
