The later ones, absolutely. Hawaii 5-0 & the Mod Squad were exceptions, but only because they have novelty.
All the crime-drama's are basically remakes of previous shows. They all tend to follow formula. Like, the CSI's are well-written versions of Quincy.
Now we have DEXTER, on Showtime. That's totally original. (except that it's based on a novel--THAT's totally original).

I prefer NYPD Blue and Law and Order. I think the genre is getting even stronger, with better writing, acting and cinematography. Very talented people are drawn to work in the field now.

None of those. I watch the real show COPS and the other police shows on the Court TV channel. Life is stranger than fiction.

I love the current ones... especially CSI and Law & Order (Criminal Intent).
I think ultimately it is a personal liking that each person has... and I guess most people don't like to watch dated things too much - at least not until we get older.

i personally like law and order oh and my favorite is called shark.
you should watch "house" its not a cop show its a dr. show but its really good and it is about a drug addicit doctor it is loaded with rye humor {my fav.]
