Media center edition is the current windows operating system its the latest version of XP and far surpases all other versions in every category nearly its a major upgrade and will be able to do anything home edition can but better (or at least as well)!

I believe it's just XP Pro with a media center overlay. Media center is great if you have an XBOX 360, you can network the two and share media across the network.

Yes. It has some extra features. Windows XP Home can run those features too, but you would have to download some stuff.
