A novel that is similar to Pride and Prejudice is "North and South" by Elizabeth Gaskell (no this is not the book about the civil war. The title is a reference to the north and south of England). Like P&P, North and South's main charecters (Margaret and John) don't understand each other at first, and are prejudice in their views. The relationship between Margaret and John follows much of the same route as the one taken by Elizabeth and Darcy. One main difference is that you get to see the man's view of the story instead of only the woman's. BBC has made a wonderful miniseries of this novel, which is avaiable on DVD.

Definitely Bridget Jones. Bridget is like Elizabeth and then there are the two Darcys... The book even makes a reference to Darcy in Pride and Prejudice when they are discussing how it would be great if Darcy was like Colin Firth playing Darcy in the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. Bridget and Elizabeth are set against Darcy in the beginning, but he actually turns out to be a great guy in the end (in P&P he saves Elizabeth's sister and in Bridget Jones he saves her mother).

Well there are the obvious movie connections to Bride and Prejudice of course. In addition I'd suggest the Bridget Jones books and movie. Although Bridget, of course, is a much looser parallel.

Many of Jane Austen's novels have a ribbon of common themes: the comedy of manners, the misadventures of unmitigated thought, and the unfairness of the inheritance laws towards women...most often the silliest women in her book only think about rich men and how to snag them.

read: Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, and Emma

This sounds like a homework question which should be posted in the homework section. I'm feeling generous, try Bridget Jones's Diary.
