There is a 50/50 chance of getting one. If both parents have a cleft chin, all of their kids will have one. If neither parent has a cleft chin, then none of their kids will. My husband has a cleft chin, and I also have a slight one. Both of our kids have it as well.

I know what you are going through. I myself was born with a Clef Soft Palette in the back of my throat. I was scared to death that my son would be born with it also. I made the Nurse check before I fed him for the first time. I didn't want any chances. They said that it isn't likely that my offspring would inherit the gene that maybe my offspring's young would. I guess it skips a generation. In my families case though I was the only one who had it. I always contributed it to my mom's smoking while pregnant but I hear that isn't the case either. my brother and i both have a cleft chin. we have diffrent fathers, so apparently it came from our mothers side... (i have 2 uncles that have it and my grandpa did too)
