Take him to the doc and make sure he doesn;t have acid reflux (GRED) or milk allergies
Burp him more often and give gas drops
Set him up for 30 minutes after eating
Wear him in a sling or wrap
If breastfeeding elimanted milk, caffine, and gassy foods from diet
Baby may be overstimulated, some time away from the tv, radio, kids, dogs, and all other stimuli may help--a few minutes alone in a quiet, dimmly lit room with mom can do wonders.

The following are some theories that claim to explain colic:
lactose intolerance
gas
the formula that is being used
an immature nervous system
an immature digestive tract
constipation
the mother's diet
the conditions of the pregnancy
the use of epidural anesthesia
the surrounding environment
SIGNS YOUR BABY MAY HAVE COLIC:
Piercing and constant crying that can last for hours.
A red face that may become pale or blue around the mouth if the attack is long or severe.
The belly is hard and distended.
Legs are drawn up, arms are clenched tightly.
Coldness in the hands and feet.
I used this site with my 7 month old daughter to figure it out. Then talked to the doctor about it and she is a colic baby herself I really hope this helps your mom I wish her lots of luck!

I have heard great things about Gripe Water. Its really suppost to help with colic.
When my son went through the colic stage I found that letting my son sleep in a bouncy seat or swing really helped. I also switched his bottle to the Dr. Brown bottles. Walmart also sells a bottle that works just as well as the Dr. Brown ones.
If your brother is crying this long I think it might be a different problem. Have your parents get a second opinion about the colic, because it could also be the formula that he is on.

My daughter's colic was so severe our pediatrician sent us to see the head of the neonatal department at a major hospital. He told me to try this:
1 teaspoon wine (any type)
2 ounces of water
1/2 teaspoon sugar
This was a miracle. After suffering for four months and having tried prescription colic drops, atarax and phenobarbital, I am pleased to say, this was the only thing that worked. I only had to do it one time and she slept from then on. He also said to tilt the mattress with the head being at the higher end. Good luck! I feel for your family.

That's sweet. Your mom may want to talk to the baby's doctor. My nephew had the same thing for his first few months, and after finding the right formula for him, it stopped. Just remember to be soothing to your brother in the mean time because even though he's little, he can pick up bad vibes which will make it worse since he'll be scared.

POOR YOU! I am a mother of 6! They are aged 1 month to 12 years. I had one colicky baby. I found the best way to calm him was to use white noise machines.....they make ocean sounds...(available at Walmart or Target) and also by "wearing" the baby in a baby sling. I wouldn't do without a sling.....the coziness seems to remind baby of simpler times in the womb..... Good luck! Check out the sling sites below....I like the first one, but they are redoing their site....they sold me a great tie dye sling several years back...still using it!

well mine had it but you need to tell her that she needs to take him to the doc to make sure that is what it is. Tylenol is something that will help, my daughter used lepson drops( have to have doc. give a prescription) They worked well along with the formula I switched her to which is made for colic( nutramigen by enfamil) it is very pricey( 24 a can) but helps a ton if it is this bad you need to try everything
Good Luck

Swaddling a baby helps a lot, but you probably would have needed to start that much earlier. Try wrapping him tightly in a receiving blanket or buy a swaddling blanket. So that his arms are immobile and he is really tight and snug. Sounds crazy, I know, but it works wonders. Babies love to be swaddled tight because it is like being in the womb.
