on new years i was driving home from my g/f's. ive been having some issues with 3rd gear being difficult to engage. Usually it grinds and ill have to be a little more gentle with it. Well on newyears day it popped when i tried to engage 3rd gear. nothing happend so i went into 4th. it engaged and stayed there. even in neutral it acts as though its in 4th gear. Is this a linkage problem or something internal???

Your linkage is mucked up. You need to get under it and manually reset the linkage.

sounds like you broke some linkage and it is stuck in 4th gear.

You might have blown a gear. If you are a master on transmissions, then go ahead and replace the gear. If not, then get it done at your trusting mechanic.

Try adjusting the clutch. If that does not do it you may have to take the transmission cover off and adjust it there.
