Because the articles gave the founders the exact opposite of what they were getting from England. They wanted the Colonies to be able to self govern themselves. The articles gave the states most of the power, but they really hurt the national gov.

One ,ignorance of the articles of confederation make Washington the first president of the US, however, under the A of confederation John Hanson was the first president of the US, since the first continental congress ever came under the articles of confederation, and the aricles of confederation have been ignored as one of the first constitutions of the US.

the founders where all much more intrested in states rights and government than a central power which they belived would become corrupt and try to become what they had in england. they wanted seperate countries because they had loyalty to their states and not to the american country
