i dont want to look geeky in front of my friends and im not sure i want to buy it if i will be geeky

It is not geeky, but if you aren't careful, it can be highly addictive.
I've played the game since December 2005. You can meet some very cool people on there and keep in touch with people you know as well. I have 4 RL (real life) friends who play the game with me. The leader of the guild I was in a few months ago was actually 3 people. A mother, son and his fiance. They lived in one state and the mother lived in another. It was their way of keeping in touch and hanging out.
If it is geeky, then there are millions of geeks in the U.S. and I am one of them :D

The game itself is not geeky. I have never played, never will, only because it does not appeal to me. A game CANNOT be geeky. Its how you react to it that makes you "geeky". If you start playing and talk about it nonstop and what-not you may be viewed as "geeky" to some. Honestly who cares though? And someone said "girls won't talk to you" I hope that was a joke cause I've seen a lot of girls who play it and I'm sure theres a lot more. Play what you like, who cares what others think. It's just a game.

It's as geeky as ANY other game for any gaming system (Halo, Mario, Supersmash Bros, Grandtheft Auto, etc). Of course as with any other game there can be geeky people that play; The kind of people who get fired from their jobs and lose all their friends because they can't stop playing. So as long as you aren't like them and your friends aren't only ones you know online...

My nephew plays World of Warcraft and is a geek, but he is such a good looking stud that the girls would sit next to him while he's playing just to be near him and hope for a chance he will give them a little attention!
I go to visit my brother and I see my nephew getting a shoulder massage by a girl and he's on World of Warcraft. lol
So if you want to play it just go for it!

I don't see why your so concerned about how other people perceive you. From the question it sounds like your relatively young so, you should just do whatever you enjoy. In a few years you'll all go to different schools and will not talk to most of them ever again. Just have fun doing what you like to do.
