I don't mean the annoyance of the alarm going off, or that very aware feeling being pissed off at the world that you have to get up...

I mean the first thoughts that you have as you're actually transitioning through that foggy area between sleep and wake (like, maybe what you would experience on a Saturday morning, when there is no alarm). What are your first conscious thoughts like?

You know what this is a Great question.......I feel that when I am working on changing the way I think, my internal dialogue, when I wake up I am much more positive and happy...it really sinks in. When I am not...it is negative! I need to get on the Offense and make sure that my thoughts are always ALWAYS positive...so they will be so when I wake up!
How about you? What are your first thoughts?

on a saturday i normally think about things to get me motivated to get up with a positive attitude and lots of energy. i try to think about what i could do to make sure everyone else gets up and is in a good mood so we can have a productive day as a family - even though i would rather be crabby too. it takes just one person to be happy and excited to turn the whole day around. otherwise we all might end up laying around, getting dressed late, picking on junk to eat, debating on whether we are too lazy to do something, etc.....

I try to muster up the energy to get out of bed, throw some clothes on, clean up and start breakfast...

Basically I give myself a early morning peptalk! :)

I am not a morning person so it is hard! lol SD

Clotaire Rapaille on Frontline used early thoughts to access "reptilian hot buttons" for the purpose of effective marketing. He used journaling in dim morning light to capture the uncensored thoughts of the subjects. Your question is difficult to answer, as there is quite a bit of variance in my early morning meanderings. Ask me again in the morning.

I usually wake up reviewing in my mind the dreams I was just having, trying to lock them in before they disappear and then think about them. They're usually pretty entertaining. Then I start kind of half wondering if I want to make coffee or have anything to eat.

I think about the dreams I just had, and see if I can learn anything from them. It only lakes a minute or two usually. After that, I start thinking about the day ahead, and what I want to (and have to) do.

Melancholy....

But I've been in a rut for a long time, and I dream a lot about better endings to past events.

Although, sometimes, I dream WORSE endings to past events, and that makes my thoughts kinda freaky- defensive, hurt...

Great question. My first thoughts are usually saying thanks for another day. I don't know why I think that when I awake, I just have for a long time.

My thoughts are --looking to see if it is light out yet--looking around--wondering what time it is and if my husband is online yet in Iraq to chat.
