Back in the day some mistakes, fueled by racism, were made--perhaps.

But now-a-days, now we're over it. Wouldn't it make sense to bring back popular justice? If We The People punished criminals immediately, crime would nearly disappear, I guarantee it.

As is, we're the First World country with the highest violent crime rate by far, and that's not acceptable.

Don't you think criminals would be afraid to murder, molest or rape if they knew the people would get them, skin them alive, hang them and burn their corpse?

There are solutions to violent crime, but people would not have the political will in this country to unite and implement those solutions.

Instead, the Republicans let the police handle it (which could lead to a police state)

and the Democrats try to take guns away from law-abiding citizens protecting their family from criminals the police cannot catch (which leads to guns only being owned by criminals, enabling mob rule).

The solution is, gun ownership and better education, more police, and capital punishment for murderers. Allow home protection to be in the hands of home owners, encourage people to defend their own home, possibly even mandate some kind of government-sponsored home security system for the high-crime areas, better armed and less lawyer-hassled police patrols, and better education so that less people will turn to crime anyway.

Then, kill the murderers so there will be less murderers eating up federal dollars in prison while decent people are EARNING a living.

Now watch as the Republican loyalists question my conservative credentials, and the Democrat loyalists call me an extremist, while neither have any real solutions.

Instead of criticizing my proposed methods, why not come up with better solutions than forcing the police to do all the work, or preventing people from owning self-defense weapons, while criminals have access to every handheld weapon on Earth?

We're over it? Lynching is a mob action and is lawless. The word implies an emotional basis for the action, not an factual, evidence driven outcome.

I think any logical person would be horrified to live in a community which engaged in mob justice.

You should watch Twilight Zone reruns more.
Or maybe move to Iraq. they have lots of people with this mind set there.

As for the US having a problem with violent crimes, innocent people are allowed to have guns to protect themselves.

i hate to admit it, but you're absolutely right.

if the penalty for rape was to have genitals chopped off with a sword, rapists would think twice. if the penalty for shoplifting was to lose a hand, shoplifting would be a thing of the past. if the penalty for robbing a bank was to be tied to a post and whipped til they're a bleeding mess, bank robberies would decrease by 99%. and if the penalty for murder or kidnapping was a MANDATORY death by firing squad, we'd live in a much safer place.

but since we live in these garbled times where political correctness and ultra tolerance reign supreme and criminals have more rights than their victims, criminals take advantage of our lenient justice system and we wonder why we have such a high crime rate.

The theory is great but it would never work, there is no way to ensure that its only done to those that who truly deserve it and who makes that call, the police. Cause there are no crooked law enforcement is there? lol Not to mention the lawsuit happy existence we lead, there would be suits all over the place.

Oh yeah America is over hate and racism. We should lynch the criminals which happen to be 90% black.

I would guarantee that if some of these gang members saw one of their "bloods" dangling from a rope with his tongue hanging out and his feet twitching they would think twice before committing a capitol crime.

Uh, because it is murder, taking the law into your own hands, and not giving the person a fair trial. THAT is why.

I can't find any reference that confirms your hypothesis. What law book, journal, or history text did you consult to determine that lynching was a strong deterrent? Please give a citation!
