Same stuff the guys need, minus the jock.
I wear lightweight cotton workout pants and a tank top under my gear, then from there up it's hockey pants, shinguards, hockey socks, skates, shoulderpads, elbow pads, jersey, gloves, helmet with a cage, stick.
A mouthguard's usually a good idea, but I don't use one.
You can buy the same gear guys do, but shoulderpads designed for women fit better and ride up less.
Bring a hand towel to dry your skates off and toss on the locker room floor to stand on, and water. A bag for your gear's a good thing. Also bring your own sock tape, and stick tape. I carry a small screwdriver for last minute helmet repairs or to take my cage on and off.
Have fun. Hockey's great.

As a couple others have said you will need the same equipment but you will have a different type of design for protection of your breasts (depending on your age of course). If you do not have large breasts yet this may not be necessary. Ask an equipment person when you buy equipment and they should be the best to assist with your questions on this matter.
The cup is also different but if I were you I'd wear one all the same. The last thing you want is to have a fractured pubic bone.

It's all the same except the cup is called a pelvic protector and is flatter. Some girls/women wear junior gear because it's smaller and cheaper. There are women's shoulder pads and pants, but they're not required unless you are particularly big-chested or big-hipped. Just get what fits, it all looks the same from outside the jersey.

You need shins guards, hockey socks (i prefer hocks), hockey pants, elbow pads, a chest protector, a neck guard, a mouthguard, a helmet, skates, and gloves and a stick. Brands I would prefer for hockey equiptment are bauer, vapor, reebok, nike, or ccm.

Everything that the boys wear, but the cup is obviously a different design and the shoulder/upper chest pads are a little different.
