Putting your MySpace profile into 'private' mode doesn't hide fields like gender/age/city/country from the general public. I've just tested it out on my MySpace profile and those fields are still visible to anyone, even after the mode change.

As a general rule, you should be careful about what information you post on your MySpace profile. Don't post any more information about yourself then you're comfortable with.

You do NOT have to post your city either, if you would prefer not to - I currently just have 'United States' listed as my location.

Myspace is as safe as YOU make it... Use common sense when filling out information forms and surveys because these can give away your identity. Just be careful and use good judgment. Have fun but don't give predators a chance to strike... Set up your account to ask you to approve comments before they are posted because if anyone you know puts some information in a comment that gives away your identity then you have a chance to stop it before anyone else has the chance to read.

Have fun.

I think it is if you put a city where you don't really live and if your profile is set to private. Also, you should only accept friend requests from people you know.

properly, specific you would be secure do purely not upload people you don't be attentive to thats what i do. and don't provide too a lot data approximately you to people you don't be attentive to or none. ya like now they have this element which you will have purely your people verify out your profile thats what I extremely have and that i theory i had to be 14/15 to have a style of profiles thank god they have that decision now. you purely visit account settings and then the place it says privateness settings after which you visit the place it says...Who Can View My finished Profile & then you fairly decide on who you decide directly to view your profile. sturdy success and be secure. :)

myspace is perfectly safe as long as you use it for recreation and do not divulge any important information to anyone. having your profile set to private will definately deter people from browsing and harrassing you.

Even though you have to enter some data about yourself to get an account (i.e. city), this information is not visible to users. You can control what is shown to others. Also, what you write about yourself will release information. It can be used very safely if you are careful.

as long as it's private you will be safe, only your friends should be able to see it, but you can hide the city if you don't want your friend to see it and feel safer
