Trust me, it is normal. I was the same way- always had to have at least one nap a day - but by your 2nd trimester, you should get a boost of energy, so you won't feel as tired... by my 3rd trimester, I was sleepy again, so I had to take a nap again- it wasn't too bad... but my doctor told me you need the rest... when your body is telling you to sleep, sleep. It's good for your baby. YOur baby take a lot out of you, so you won't feel as energetic as you normally were. but once you have your baby, you should start feeling back to normal again- only I still take at least one nap a day if I can when my son sleeps- lol because he still can get up in the middle of the night sometimes.
Goodluck!
also- I was slightly anemic while pregnant and had to take iron pills as well... only-I didn't think that it made me sleepy- it made me more dizzy to the point I almost passed out a few times, but by taking the iron pills, it made me feel better- and not dizzy. I still needed that nap though!

There could be many causes but first and foremost have you had blood work done recently. You are supposed to be taking prenatal vitamins. The type will be decided after bloodwork.
These have loads of Iron and everything else mommies need to create babies that are healthy. They are nasty and huge but necessary. Another thought is also a coping effect from stress.
you may not feel stressed but you are it is part of becoming a mom and only gets worse as child gets older.
This is good stress most of the time and can be managed.
Take a stress management test they are free and will help identify the causes so you can manage them.
Most stress tests come with a self help and identification guide.
It is good reading even if you have only a little stress to deal with.
I hope this helps you out go see your doctor and dont miss any apointments. You have a very busy year ahead of you and It can be really fun good luck.

It's normal. Do not drink energy drinks unless doctors say otherwise. Most of them contain very high caffine levels. Walks can help, but do not ignore when you are tired. Try to eat more snacks in the day to avoid extreme hunger. It seems the more energy you use when you are pregnant the more sleepier you are. Don't worry though. This should wear off closer to you second trimester or after your second trimester depending on your body. *LOL* I have found I can't sit down now...and when I do sleep I sleep for 2 hours and cannot sleep again until I get some of this energy used. Also your doctors might be able to tell you some vitamins you can take to boost your energy a little.

All of the other answers are right. Get tested for anemia. Take your prenatal vitamins and iron supplements if your heath care provider recommends them. You might also want to crush up your prenatal tablet. Alot of the time your body can have trouble digesting a pill with additives and a pill that is so compacted. If it tastes bad add it to some OJ and mix it up. Also make sure that if your are prescribed an iron supplement, that you take it 2 hours before or after a meal or your prenatal vitamin. You should do this because calcium depletes iron. Vitamin C enhances the effects of iron. So take your iron with a cup of OJ but not OJ with calcium added. Try eating foods rich in iron such as red meats or leafy green veggies. Also if this is your first child, sleep it up. I am pregnant with my forth and my younger ones are 4 and under. I have no time to sleep. But regardless of what you do, your energy is being split between you and your baby and you probably won't feel tip top shape. Follow these tips as long as you get the ok from your Dr. and you should feel a little better at least.

I'm not a woman so but I work with all women at the school I teach at so I have an idea based on what I've heard and been exposed to.
Its normal to be tired all the time. Part of this is because you are eating a lot and a lot of your blood is being pumped towards your digestion. But it is ok to exercise, even into the 3rd trimester of your pregnancy. This will give you more energy and reduce the side effects of pregnancy...less bloating and swelling. Just make sure you are eating plenty and exercising plenty. Your baby will come out healthy. You won't be running marathons but you'll be able to stay in decent shape while pregnant, which is beneficial to bouncing back quickly into tip top shape post preganny.

Tiredness in the first trimester is not unusual. Your body is adjusting to the new life inside of you. Your hormones are changing, too.
I took a long daily walk every day to re-energize my body. Also, I played tennis or hiked, swam and took aerobics, and worked full time. At night, I was tired but fell asleep easily. BTW, I had morning sickness in my first pregnancy the first 5-6 months so anything unrelated to food worked for me.
It gets better.
In the second trimester you are less tired.

first trimester is the most tiring. Try walking. It will get your blood moving a bit and you will feel better. Just a 1/2 mile will do the trick. High Iron diet will help. It is not unusual to be anemic in pregnancy. I had taken my prenatel vitimans and iron pills (big red horse pills). You'll get your energy back.

I am pregnant with my first too, and the first couple of months will be like that but you might want to get tested for anemia. And eat citric foods, and fruit they wont make you so tierd. Im seven months now and still get REALLY tierd after meals. Like I just took some nyquil or something. And since you are pregnant you have to listen to your body and sleep when your tierd.

Your body is adjusting to major, and I mean major, horomonal changes with the pregnacy. Every cell in your body has to adjust to this growing life.
If you are concerned ask your doctor. And if you have not been to see one, go immeidately for prenatal care.
Congratulations. In a few months you will be holding one of the joys of life, one that you helped create and carried into life.

It's normal. All you can do is wait for the feel better time of the second trimester.
You will feel better soon. Make sure you drink enough water and have a healthy bablnced diet, which I'm sure you're doing anyway :)
