Call your ISP and have them run a line test. Could be in the cables.

Multiply the 200kbps time 8 to get the true speed. 200KBps (kilobytes per second) X 8 bits per byte = 1.6 megabits per second. If your ISP advertizes 5 mbps (megabits per second) divide by 8. There are 8 bits in 1 Byte. That gives you 625 KBps (KiloBytes per second).
Now consider that most ISP's will give you up to 4 connections. 625KBps divided by 4 connections gives you 156.2KBps per connection.
Now also consider that some ISP's have a CIR limit - say around 256, 512KB or 1MB per IP - which may throttle back your bandwidth unless you pay more.
Speakeasy tells me 4892 download and 526 up. However my sustained download is limited to about 1.8mbps or 230KBps for things like downloading MP3's, but text zooms on up there.

It can get way deeper than this - the speed of the internet being 1.4mbps (175KBps)......

but I digress....

Hey there Dude,

Go here and test your speed.
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

What type of internet do you have. Satalite? DSL/Cable?

If you are a home user, you only got half of the 5 MB correct. If, in a perfect world, EVERYTHING were perfect, you could get 5MB download. However, at best, I think you would only get 384 MB upload.

My best suggestion is to have someone take a look. 7%, if you are talking about processor, that is a lot. Most PC's idol at cpu at 0%.,

Tom

are you on dsl? check and make sure all filters are installed correctly on your phone lines. Make sure you don't have a noisy phone line...that dropoff in speed looks to be interference on the line from somwhere...check the faqs at dslreports.com for more help.
