i am doing this for a science fair project and was wondering what does vinegar do to sugar crystals. please answer my question if u know it!

Vinegar, which is a 5% solution of acetic acid in water, will dissolve sugar crystals. The result will be a sweet-sour liquid. This might be the beginning of a salad dressing, if you add olive oil.
