I am trying to buy a new barbell for my cartilage piercing....?

Can someone tell me something about gauges of barbells. Are larger numbers bigger or smaller in width? Thanks alot!!!!

The sizes are smaller in thickness the higher the number. A ten guage is thicker than a 12 guage piece of jewelry. If you are interested in increasing the size of your piercing, take it a guage or two at a time. It will be sore for a short time but will eventually stretch out to your liking. Cute!
