I experienced a very similar problem with a Customer's computer a while back... It turned out to be a corrupted piece of software in the system BIOS. I reset the system board's BIOS chip by following the instructions in the owners manual (or manufacturers website) and it worked perfectly... The only other thing I can think of is Bad system memory (RAM)... This can sometimes cause the system to fail during startup... I would definitely try the BIOS reset first though because this seems to be a very common problem.... Hope this helps!

Does you computer have a power button in the front and a power switch in the back near the power supply?

I had a computer that has this configuration and sometimes had to shut off the power switch in the back in order for the computer to reboot. I think it had something to do with sleeping or hibernating but never did figure it out.

If not, what happens if you press and hold the power switch?

You need a new power switch. I had two HP's that did the same thing, the switch is defective. Get one off another used PC or buy a new one, They are a cheap fix, so try this before all these other suggestions.

5 fans and a 300 w power supply. I bet your PSU is shot from being over loaded. now a days you need atleast 500W for computer sysytem.

ram and powersupply is 2 items I see people go low on. when its 2 of the most importaint items to try and go all out on.

you might have a failuare of power system, bad mother board, hard drive or have an virus. Can you see any message on the screen. The power light can stil be on if the power fails, but it didn't supply enough power. You might need a new power system.
