Let me say CONGRATS!!! Yes you can use your boyfriends last name...I know this for a fact because I do this for a living...I work in a hospital and I am the one that would go into your room once the baby is born and ask what you would want the baby's name to be..I will ask are you and the father married you will then say no I will then tell you I am going to need the father to sign paternity papers...Which both of you will sign...Get all yours and his information..Put it on the baby's proof of birth in the hospital and give them to you to take within a month to the registar and get the actual birth certificate....You can give the child as many names and last names as you wish...hehe..Cool huh..Again Congrats!! And please don't do what some mothers do and have a nameless child...That is sooo sad... :(

When you fill out the birth certificate at the hospital, just put him as the father and use his surname for the baby.

yes, I know this for a fact, my brother and his girlfriend at the time had a baby and they gave my nephew my brothers last name, tehy were engaged and are now married but yes you can give the baby his last name and if you and your boyfriend have a serious relationship and may get married you probably should it will make it alot easier on the baby as he or she grows up!

Yup as long as you arent married to someone else. I know in alot of states if your married but even if your not together you still have to give the legal husband your last name. BUT if you are not married ( to anyone) then you can give that baby Donald Trumps last name. Both of my sisters have different fathers then me but they each have my dads last name even though they arent my dads. So as long as your state allows it and there isnt other things to keep it from happening yeah you can do it.

Yes, if you put it on your baby's birth certificate.
However, when your baby is born, many hospitals will list him or her under YOUR surname, so make sure anyone who wants to visit you after giving birth knows your last name.

We weren't married when we had our first 2 children, but we used his surname. In hospital bub will be named "baby of . . ." (your surname.)

hm. i'm pretty sure that you can.
my boyfriends brother and his girlfriend had a baby and his girlfriend didnt want the fathers surname, but he fought for it, and now their little boy's last name is the fathers.
i think it all depends on if the mother allows it.

I just did the same thing last month when I had my baby.....IN the hospital the name tags will be your last name until you are released but just let them know you are giving the baby his last name, they will bring in the form for you to fill out for his Birth Cert. and you can put it on there....Congrat and good luck....

Ofcourse he can.....your boyfriend is the father. And you can name your child whatever you like...so it doesnt even have to be the mom's or the dad's last name. It'll be whatever you put in that birth registration FORM in the hospital.

yes my brother and his girlfriend arent married and my niece has our last name. and your baby doesnt even have to have either one of your last names, that's just a tradition to name the baby last name after the father so that they can identify with a family
