Bernie Williams is still waiting around to see what is going to happen. As a Red Sox fan I like Bernie Williams, he and Jeter have class. They are great for baseball. If Williams does wind up retiring I wish him well. He was and is, as I said, a classy player, even if I did dread his coming to the plate one to many times.

No, he did not re-sign yet, and is still a free agent. Privately the Yankees wish he would retire, as they would like Melky Cabrera as the fourth outfielder. Since their is not much need for a pinch-hitter in the A.L., then that won't leave much of a role for Bernie. They would like him to retire because they want to get younger, yet don't want him to play for another team. Bernie has said that he may retire if the Yankees aren't interested in re-signing him, which would be kind of sad, because he would not really have a chance to say good-bye. He was a great player for the Yankees, not quite Hall of Fame material, but you would have to say that he was one of the clean players in this generation who was overshadowed by the guys who did steroids. Classy guy and he will be missed.

He's still on the Yankees and currently will start the off-season as a probable backup. He hasn't retired but could still be traded if the yankees could get something in return.
