I am in gymnastics. I have a meet tom. I had a sore hamstring muscle before today and now it is so bad it hurts to move my leg. I really want to compete but should I?? I compete all around(all events) I really want to but someone told me that it will keep it from healing. It is very painful but I wouldn't care as long as I place. Should I??
My coach told me that if I miss the meet I can consider myself "off the team". Should I just push through the pain and go for it??
What do you think I should do?? My b/f says it is up to me what I choose, and he will carry my to the podium if he has to.
Does he care if he says this??
Will he be happy as long as I am even if I can barely walk??
I don't want to lose my chance at state champ. Will me b/f be upset when I can barely walk and blame himself for letting me??(cuz it wasn't his fault)

This is a question that only you can answer. Your boyfriend sounds like a really sweet guy that must care for you very much. I don't think you need to worry about what choice you make as far as he's concerned. He'll be supportive of you either way. Chances are good that if you compete, you may seriously injure your ankle...and possibly even do permanent damage to it, but if you don't compete the coach has made it clear that you won't be on the team any longer. Ask yourself how important it is to you, and then make your decision. A little praying wouldn't hurt either.

If I were you, I wouldn't do it. You run the risk of injurying yourself further. I have friends that play baseball and hamstring injuries seem to be fairly common, and one that will easily reoccur once it happens the first time. I think your coach is definitely being unreasonable and basically an ***. Put it this way, you compete tomorrow and you could find yourself sitting out all future events (including the state finals or whatever it is). You're boyfriend is showing is support of you by not telling you what to do (most guys learn by a certain age to not tell a woman what to do).

Your chances at state champ are gonna be over either way this year. If you compete, you will injure yourself more and be done for the season. If you don't then you will be off the team. Its no win, so you might as well allow yourself to heal so you can compete in the future. Even if you compete you are not going to be performing your best, so how can you expect to win state champ like that? Put your dreams on hold for a season, unless there's no future... then pop some vicodin and compete.

You might have torn your hamstring or strained it. I am working on my doctorate in physical therapy right now, and alot of times we hear about these cases. Someone wants to or "has to" compete even though they have an injury. If the team is very important to you, and you don't care about doing this sort of thing for a living, then I say go ahead and compete on it, even though you may injure yourself further. If you want to protect yourself the most and be able to do better later, don't compete. And tell your D***head coach that it is wrong and probably against regulations to kick someone off the team and advise someone to compete on an injury.

k so if it was me i wouldnt just because of the fact that u could hurt it and need surgery or sumthin. but it all depends on how it feels tomorrow. the bf question, i think it means he does care. and if he doesnt like u because u cant walk then he doesnt like you for you and you need to dump him cuz u probly can do better.
