The Darkness- almost a parody of older-type rock, with the usually-meaningless lyrics and really high-pitched falsetto vocals--but the songs are still very catchy. I would recommend their album "Permission to Land."

Robin Trower- this guy (and his band) is great classic rock--very talented band. I would recommend "Bridge of Sighs."

The Black Keys- If minimalistic blues rock (it's a two-man band), check these guys out. I recommend "Big Come Up."

This is kinda out there but you might also want to check out Third Eye Blind, who does catchy songs like "Never Let You Go" and "Jumper," but also have good albums. Their self-titled album is good.

Hope this is helpful to you!

Check out the Chili Peppers' new album , "Stadium Arcadium". They've got the be the best, most original, consistent, and innovative band of the last 20 years.

Really, if there is anyone in my generation (I'll be 23 in 2 days) that could ever compare the the classics like Floyd and Zeppelin, it is the Chili Peppers. There have been great bands in my time, really great bands like Sublime, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, and others, but as far as a band that keeps putting out quality rock album after album, year after year, and great concerts, the Chili Peppers take the cake by far.

Also, you might want to check out a band like Phish, if you are into jazzy improvisations. If you go for Phish, check out their "Slip, Stitch, and Pass" album - it is a concert cd and it is what made them my favorite band ever. They have such a diverse profile - trust me, they do everything from hard rock, funk rock, and even bluegrass and acapella music. They are talented beyond compare - every band member has a BA in music from the University of Vermont. Once when I saw them in concert, they all rotated instruments between songs and the guitarist played drums, the drummer played piano, the pianist plaed bass, etc.

They have a huge body of original music, but they are also unique because they do original covers of old classics from Floyd, Beatles, Stones, etc.

Faktion. they're just too good to pass up! haha http://www.myspace.com/faktiondallas

Also, try Eighteen Vision's new CD. Although they evolved from death metal to rock, they are now into some alternative/rock combo that has a Def Leppard type feel to it. I think you'll really like them http://www.myspace.com/eighteenvisions

Hope ya like them!! =)
