Perhaps. If you're going to execute someone, it's a proven and effective means. Additionally, it's cheap, quick, and probably more humane than lethal injection, the electric chair, and the gas chamber. I also think the firing squad is highly underrated.

As for using it on "like child molestors and stuff," I don't think they execute them. Rather, they are given life sentences and treated rather harshly by the other prisoners. Rapists and child molestors do not fare well in many prisons.

As far as I know, murder is the only case in which the death penalty is offered and only very rarely then. But I don't think the death penalty is any kind of deterrent given that most murderers aren't exactly thinking clearly when they kill someone.

I don't know about method of execution. I would support executions at noon on the courthouse lawn. Getting is done while people still remember the crime would be good to.
For all those that claim CAPITAL PUNISHMENT is not a deterrent, maybe that's because we wait 30 year to execute someone behind closed doors at midnight. The number 1 cause of death among death row inmates is OLD AGE. Does anyone else see a problem with that.

I'm all for the hanging it but it will never happen. Too much liberal thought in society today. Some fools worry more about the pain of execution than the pain the victim went through.

Actually statistics show that capital punishment is rarely a deterrent to crime. People committing these crimes don't think beforehand about ever getting caught. But capital punishment certainly guarantees that the criminal will not harm anyone again.

Yes, and stop the legnthy appeal process that costs the taxpayers money. The victims never got a chance for an appeal, why should the criminals? Also, since the victims never got a last meal or time to say good-by to loved ones, the murderers should not either.

NO!! I think public hanging sends the wrong message to the children of this country. Some children would be scared to death to commit crimes, but others will try to reinact what they see on t.v. People should be put to death, but not by hanging in america. Especially if it would be done publicly. Regardless, people who do wrong will suffer the ultimate punishment in hell.

No matter what anyone thinks it will never happen. right now there are people out there trying to get capital punishment (death sentences) outlawed all together, this is becoz someone who was supposed to be put to death by leathel injection didnt die, becoz it was not done properly, so they had to use a second dosage.

We should bring back lynching. Crime was low when the people took the law into their hands.

Why are Americans so blood-thirsty? I can't believe that so many people are excited about seeing someone hang.
Killing people, for whatever reason, does not prevent crime. It was tried for hundreds of years and found wanting.

you'd have to couple it with speedier trials like saddam's to make it work. can you imagine a child molester getting caught like this couey scum in florida, goes to trial, the evidence finds him guilty and he's immediately brought out back and hanged...just think of how many of those scum would hesitate to grab a kid, rape them and bury them alive next time...
