I'd recommend being careful. There are plenty of places out there that would provide loans to people with bad credit, and charge them horrendous interest rates (like 24.99%). There may be some reputable places that might be willing to take a chance, especially if you have collateral. Try looking at www.bankrate.com for loan recommendations.

If your credit score is over 500 (three repositories report 3 different credit scores for you), I would try a local finance company, Wells Fargo Financial, Finance and Thrift, etc. These companies do charge a higher rate, but if you continue to pay the loan on time it will improve your credit score.
In the meantime, this is free, but helps improve your credit score. This is the official website of the credit repositories giving you the option of opting out of pre-screened offers. You are considered less of a credit risk by not wanting pre-approved loan offers. It usually takes 30 to 60 days to help, but it's worth it:
