The answer is no !

the microwaves are low level and their are no strong magnetic fields emitted.

However, hang on to your sneakers because you are going to get all kinds of crazy answers on this one from folks who don't have a clue and those who are simply trying to prank you.

Close is not too bad. I think microwaves are required by law to filter out the microwaves so that they never make it out of the container. (that's why the window you look at your food though is always really dark)
Although putting your computer beside the microwave certainly isn't the BEST thing to do, it's certainly not as deadly as putting it IN the microwave...

The electromagnetic radiation from the microwave can interfere with memory systems causing crashing and slowness amoung other things. Also this can wipe yourd hard drive clean of some if not all data if your unlucky i would move it as soon as possible. (Also your monitors color will go bad if you have it too close to a microwave speaker or even other monitors i recomend moving it as well for safety.)

Yes, because 1) radiation might affect the HD, motherboard etc.. and 2) If you computer and microwave are plugged in the same outlets, the risk of power surge is likely and may damage hardware.

better move it,

most harmful trnx are filtered in a microwave - but the heat/ airflow will be diminished...

as far as microwaves ruining your data - maybe after using it for about 150 years.....
