It affects, or had an effect on, how we live today.

Well, for one, I wouldn't be a US citizen living in CA if it weren't for Westward Expansion.

Native Americans might still have their land.

The 1849 gold rush might never have happened.

There are alot of good and bad things that came from this. Like more industrialized towns forced more people to interact and move to closer together, so cultures mix hardcore and there are more hate crimes and more understanding. Its bad for the environment, but good for the already rich people. This is how mom and pop shops (small businesses) went out of business because all the big corporations tool over. For a long time, the corporations didn't treat their workers very well simply because they could and the people couldn't complain because they needed the work and if they refused the working conditions then the corporation would just hire the next guy. In a way this type of revolution was good, at first it was bad but we learned and made laws to protect the people from the bad behavior. I dont know if this was a really good or bad thing, but it did tear up the old fashioned family home and values and tradition because the moms and dads now were both working, of course after the womens movement.

We were greedy! We wanted all this land, and we took it. Are we not the same way today?... But in the place of land we have possessions and the need for instantanious perfection.
